Saudi authorities announced on Sunday that King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, was subjected to an attack by an unknown projectile, resulting in injuries. This comes one day after a previous attack that left 12 dead and 309 injured, according to available data.
The authorities explained that the projectile hit Terminal 4, noting that air defenses intercepted and destroyed a "Cruise" missile in the vicinity of the airport. They added that the attack caused a fire, and the relevant authorities immediately intervened at the site.
In a subsequent development, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that the airport was subjected to a new attack on Sunday afternoon, confirming that there were injuries and that the assessment of damages and verification of facility safety were ongoing, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
For its part, Agence France-Presse reported hearing the sound of three explosions in Riyadh on Sunday, a day after the previous attack, while assessment and verification operations of the circumstances of the attacks continue.
