The Moroccan playwright and intellectual Aziz Segrouchni passed away today, Sunday, October 11, 2026, after a career rich in contributions and dedication to serving culture and theatrical arts in Morocco, leaving a prominent mark on the national cultural scene.
Following this sad event, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication extended its deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies to the late artist's family and members of the artistic and cultural community, asking God to encompass the deceased with His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious gardens, and inspire his relatives and loved ones with patience and solace.
The deceased is considered one of the figures who contributed to enriching the Moroccan theatrical scene. In 1964, he took over the management of the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, becoming the first Moroccan director of this ancient cultural institution.
He also accumulated significant contributions in the field of playwriting, in addition to participating in the organization of artistic and cultural events, which contributed to serving the theatre and strengthening its presence within the national cultural landscape.
