HIBAPRESS – Yassine Damiri
Parliamentary group leaders in the House of Representatives benefit from financial compensation and additional privileges in exchange for the responsibilities they undertake within the legislative institution, as these privileges include financial and logistical aspects related to the management and representation of the groups in the various structures of the council.
The total monthly compensation for a parliamentary group leader reaches at least 43,000 dirhams, taking into account the basic compensation allocated to a Member of Parliament, set at 36,000 dirhams, in addition to a monthly compensation of 7,000 dirhams for leading the group.
The privileges are not limited to financial compensation, as they also include placing luxury BMW cars at the disposal of parliamentary group leaders, alongside the heads of standing committees, to facilitate their travel related to the tasks they undertake within the legislative institution.
Those concerned also benefit from other privileges, including accommodation cards in five-star hotels, as well as compensation related to travel and fuel cards, which are advantages added to the monthly compensation they receive as Members of Parliament.
These compensations and privileges highlight the financial aspect associated with assuming responsibilities within the House of Representatives, especially the leadership of parliamentary groups, at a time when the volume of these allocations and their details remain data that arouses interest regarding the management of resources and privileges associated with the legislative institution.
