HIBAPRESS – Rabat
The King's Prosecutor at the Rabat Court of First Instance decided to prosecute four people in detention, in connection with an unauthorized gathering witnessed in the capital on October 12, which resulted in the injury of three members of the security forces with varying degrees of severity.
A statement from the King's Prosecutor, issued today, Thursday, October 15, indicated that about 40 people participated in the gathering, including 14 women, pointing out that the intervention of the public force to disperse the gatherers came after what it described as a state of chaos witnessed in the public street, including obstructing the interests of citizens.
The statement added that the gatherers refused to respond to the authorities' call to disperse the gathering, before resisting the intervention of the security forces with violence, which led to the injury of three members of the security forces whose condition necessitated their transfer to the hospital for treatment.
Following these incidents, the Public Prosecution ordered the opening of a judicial investigation that resulted in the arrest of seven people, who were placed under police custody before being presented to the King's Prosecutor.
After studying the results of the investigation, the Public Prosecution decided to prosecute four of the detainees in detention, for disobedience, unauthorized gathering, insulting public officials while performing their duties, and committing violence against them, and referred them to the court for trial in accordance with the law.
The King's Prosecutor confirmed that the arrested individuals enjoyed all legal guarantees during their detention, including their right to defense.
