The General Company for Public Works in Morocco (SGTM), via its official page, announced that the progress rate of the Dakhla Atlantic Port project work has exceeded 74 percent as of the end of September 2026. This indicates the continued progress of this strategic project, which is relied upon to enhance the Kingdom's port and logistics infrastructure.
The company explained that the completed work included the construction of 7.5 kilometers of marine protection structures, in addition to over 2300 meters of port quays intended for receiving ships and ensuring loading and unloading operations, as well as the completion of 1330 meters of the maritime bridge connecting the port to the mainland.
The Dakhla Atlantic Port is one of the major projects aimed at developing Morocco's port and logistics capabilities, strengthening trade exchange and economic connectivity with African markets, as well as supporting industrial, commercial, and maritime activities in the Dakhla Oued Ed-Dahab region.
Upon entering service, the project is expected to contribute to strengthening Dakhla's position within maritime transport and trade networks on the Atlantic facade, and opening new horizons for investment and economic activities related to port and logistics services.
This project is also expected to be a lever for economic development in the region, given the potential it offers for developing trade exchange and improving maritime connectivity, thereby enhancing the region's attractiveness to investors and economic actors.
