HIBAPRESS – Fez
A source familiar with the matter stated that the Court of Appeal for Criminal Cases at the Court of Appeal in Fez has decided to reduce the prison sentence issued against a suspect, who is being prosecuted in a case related to compromising the internal and external security of the state, from 15 years to 10 years of effective imprisonment.
The same source clarified that the decision came after a review of the initial ruling issued against the individual in question, who was prosecuted on the grounds of actions related to colluding with foreign entities hostile to Morocco, including the "Polisario" front, in addition to other charges related to insulting a constitutional institution.
According to information related to the case, the actions attributed to the suspect include, based on research findings, the suspicion of providing foreign entities with reports and videos documenting sensitive locations and places, within the framework of incidents that were the focus of investigations initiated by the specialized services.
The case dates back to January of the current year, when elements of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, affiliated with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested the suspect before subjecting him to investigation according to the legal procedures in force in state security-related cases.
The available data added that the investigations also included video clips that reportedly documented riots that occurred in the city of El Kalaâ des Sraghna during the "Generation Z" protests, which were included in the file presented to the judiciary.
The appellate decision to reduce the sentence to ten years of effective imprisonment comes after the initial litigation phase, pending any further developments in the case in accordance with current legal procedures.
