HIBAPRESS-Abdul Latif Baraka
A number of farmers in the Zagora province protested on Monday morning, October 26, demanding the simplification of administrative procedures related to obtaining licenses for growing red and yellow melons. They expressed their fear that the new conditions would affect the continuation of their agricultural activity and their livelihoods.
A protest was organized in the area adjacent to Zagora Airport, coinciding with a second protest in the Al-Rouha municipality. During these protests, demonstrators raised demands aimed at reducing the required documents and conditions for obtaining licenses, especially for small and medium-sized farmers who face difficulties in completing administrative files.
Farmers, in a plea addressed to the provincial governor, affirmed their support for initiatives aimed at protecting water resources and rationalizing their consumption. However, they called for a review of how the governor's decision is implemented to achieve a balance between water conservation and ensuring the continuity of agricultural activity. They called for the adoption of more flexible measures that take into account the situation of producers, without compromising the regulations aimed at limiting the depletion of water resources.
