HIBAPRESS – Khalil Fazazi
A number of residents and merchants on Aboudou Street in Guelmim city have expressed their immense dissatisfaction and deep concern due to the severe slowness and continuous delays accompanying the maintenance and renewal of sewage pipes in the aforementioned street, located within the territorial jurisdiction of the First Urban District.
The suffering of those affected has overflowed after open public pits, left by the company implementing the project for over a week, have become a real source of foul odors and insect accumulation, in addition to obstructing traffic and causing a near-total paralysis in commercial activity on the street, which has become an imminent danger to the safety of pedestrians and drivers and increases the likelihood of serious traffic accidents.
The suffering of the residents of Aboudou Street did not stop there, as these works have been linked to successive and sudden interruptions in the supply of potable water, which has doubled the suffering of families and merchants and disrupted their daily affairs in light of the existing scarcity and repeated breakdowns.
In light of this distressing situation, those affected have directed urgent demands to the concerned authorities, local authorities, and relevant technical departments to intervene immediately and urgently to compel the contractor awarded the contract to accelerate the pace of the project, complete the works as soon as possible, and ensure the safety of passersby and restore the supply of drinking water to its normal state, to alleviate the harm to the residents and restore life to the artery of this vital street.
