The French Athletics Federation has suspended Paris Olympic 400-metre sprinter Mohamed Abdoulaye Konta after an account on social media platform X revealed hateful comments made by the athlete, the French sports minister said.
Emily O’Dea-Castrera, via her X account, said: “The president of the federation confirmed that he had suspended the athlete and that he had contacted the public prosecutor and the disciplinary committee of the federation.
The Sword of Solomon account, via X, highlighted some of Konta’s tweets posted between 2021 and 2024, in which he declared his hatred of Israel, as well as his support for Palestine.
Following the revelation, the athlete posted a photo of himself wrapped in the French flag on his social media accounts, saying he was sorry if he had offended people.
