The main possible symptoms are fever, headache, backache, muscle pain and swollen lymph nodes. The disease is also characterized by a skin rash in the form of spots or even pustules, which eventually form a scab that falls off.

Typically, this rash occurs mostly on the face, palms, and soles of the feet. However, these skin and mucous membrane changes can also be seen in the mouth, genitals, anus, and eyes.

Current cases often present with a rash on the genitals and anus.

Symptoms usually last two to four weeks and, in most cases, resolve without treatment.
