HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Thursday, the summoning of the French Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires in Algeria to express its official protest regarding a French judicial decision to renew the provisional detention for an additional year for an Algerian consular employee.
A statement from the ministry explained that this summons followed the decision issued yesterday, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as "unjustified," confirming its strong rejection of what it called "the disgraceful treatment" that the consular employee has been subjected to since being imprisoned. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stressed that this decision "is difficult to justify or accept," warning of its potential repercussions on the normal course of Algerian-French relations.
