Shisha cafes have spread widely in the Sidi Rahal Al-Shati area, which is under the influence of Berrechid province, noting that most of these cafes do not have any authorization to serve hookah, while a number of them are opened randomly.
The presence of a large number of “chicha” cafes next to a beach crowded with vacationers and receiving hundreds of thousands of Moroccans from Morocco and abroad during the summer, has aroused the discontent of visitors, considering that this beach is known to be a destination mainly for families.
The authorities in Sidi Rahal acted on direct instructions from the governor of Berrechid province, raiding some suspect cafes and seizing a number of bottles of shisha and molasses, and legal proceedings were brought against the owners and managers of these spaces.
