The director of Dar Al-Sikka, Hassan Rakraka, said Thursday in Rabat that the new 20 dirham note, put into circulation as part of the celebration of Youth Day, highlights the richness of Moroccan architectural heritage and the socio-cultural development of Morocco.

Mr. Rarkaka stressed in a press release that “the new 20 dirham banknote, put into circulation as part of the issuance of the new series of Moroccan banknotes and coins, testifies to the continuous efforts made under the leadership of His Majesty.” King Mohammed VI, aimed to preserve the Moroccan architectural heritage and the socio-cultural development of Morocco, through a theme centered around culture, art, youth and sport.

He added that this theme is reflected in the artistic representations of the Grand Theater of Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, an amphitheater for sports facilities and a stylized drawing of the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

He explained that, like the 200, 100 and 50 dirham banknotes, all the design and production stages of which were carried out exclusively by the Moroccan talents that Dar Al Sikka is full of, the 20 dirham banknote is also distinguished by the use of the latest security features, such as a variable security thread and graphics with signs visible to the visually impaired, as well as progressive serial numbers on the back of the banknote.

It should be noted that the Bank of Morocco put into circulation yesterday Wednesday this new 20 dirham note, the front of which features a photo of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the emblem of the Kingdom, as well as an architectural decoration inspired by doors and a stylized view of the University of Al-Qarawiyyin in Fez.

The back of the note features artistic depictions of the Grand Theatre of Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, an amphitheater for a sports facility, and a stylized drawing of the Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou.
