School supplies: VAT exemption to ease the burden on families

The General Directorate of Taxes (DGI) has decided to exempt from VAT the import of school supplies and the materials used in their manufacture, provided that they are intended for school use, we learned from “Al Ahdath Almaghribia” in its issue of Monday, August 26.

In an information note addressed to the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII), the DGI establishes the list of school supplies covered by the tax exemption, in accordance with the regulatory provisions provided for in Article 2-23 of Decree No. 2-06-574 of December 31, 2006 for the application of VAT, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 2-23-1118 of December 25, 2023, reports the Arabic-language daily.

These include notepads, coloring books, glues with a capacity not exceeding 36 grams or 120 ml, plastic drawing aprons, glue guns and 7 mm and 11 mm hot melt glue sticks.
