The government is working “intensively” to accelerate the construction of several hydraulic works, whether dams or interconnection operations or seawater desalination in order to improve the water situation in the Kingdom, said, Thursday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.
In this sense, the government has worked to increase the financial resources dedicated to these projects (143 billion dirhams), particularly those relating to irrigation and drinking water for the period 2021-2027, Mr. Baitas said during a press briefing following the Council.
In this sense, he shed light on a number of important projects, particularly those related to the interconnection of watersheds, highlighting the efforts made by the government to overcome the effects of the scarcity of rainfall, specifically over the last three years.
Recalling that King Mohammed VI had stressed, in the speech delivered on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Sovereign’s reign, that the water situation in the Kingdom requires urgent and innovative measures to improve it, the minister insisted that the “government is working intensively and quickly” to achieve this objective.
