Blacked out TV, gunfire loom over Burkina Faso Friday morning

Loud gunshots were heard in and around Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou early on Friday morning. This comes nine months after a military coup in the land-locked West African country led to the overthrow of the government.

The presidential palace and the military junta’s headquarters were also in the area when shots and a loud explosion were reported by AFP, especially in the presidential and military junta headquarters.

The military was also preventing people from entering government facilities and the national television, which had stopped transmitting and was showing a blank screen with the message “no video signal.”
