Ugandan runner’s boyfriend ‘burns her alive’ after returning from Olympics

Ugandan long-distance runner Rebecca Chebetegi’s boyfriend, who lives in Kenya, set her body on fire and she is currently being treated for 75 percent burns, police said.

Chepetegui, ranked forty-fourth at the Paris Olympics, was attacked at her home in Trans Nzoia County, western Kenya.

Trans Nzima district police chief Jeremiah Ole Kussium said Chepetegi’s friend Dickson Ndima “bought a can of petrol, poured it on her and set it on fire after an argument broke out between them”.
