Wehbe: New sanctions await taxi owners who refuse to transport customers to their destination

Justice Minister Abdul Latif Wehbe said the new criminal bill provides penalties for taxi owners who refuse to transport customers to their destinations.

Wehbe added in his interview with Channel 2 that “the taxi driver’s refusal to transport the citizen to his destination will turn into a crime,” indicating that any refusal by the taxi owner to transport customers to their destination constitutes a subject for follow-up against him.

The Minister of Justice said: “It is inconceivable that a taxi driver has a license and refuses to provide a service to citizens by not transporting them to their destination and imposing conditions on them. That is why we will transform this issue into an offense punishable by law.”
