The services of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, accompanied by Moroccan personnel and skills, continue to work day and night to complete the completion of the “Khank Grou” dam located in the Figuig region, where the rate of progress of the works has reached more than 41%, taking into account the acceleration of the pace of its construction.
The construction works of the “Khankru” dam are scheduled to be completed by July 2026, with water charges filling the two temporary diversion channels of the dam with a capacity of 364 cubic meters, after the completion of excavation works and placement of contact concrete at the bottom of the valley.
The dam aims to provide drinking water, irrigate agricultural land with the dam bottom, as well as fertilize water beds and protect against floods, in addition to developing the tourist, economic and social areas of the area where the facility is located.
It is worth noting that the “Khank Grou” dam is considered the fifth largest dam in Morocco, with a storage capacity of 1,069 million cubic meters and the cost of its construction is about 1,200 million dirhams. It mainly aims to irrigate agricultural land and. protect against floods, as well as artificial vaccination of water beds.
