Industry: Activity improves in July 2024

Activity in the industry would have recorded, last July, an improvement compared to the previous month, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).
Production and sales would have increased in all branches except “electrical and electronics” where production would have remained stable and the Capacity Utilization Rate (CUR) would have stood at 76% after 75% the previous month, indicates BAM in a note on its monthly survey of economic conditions in industry.
As for orders, they would have recorded an increase in all branches except “electrical and electronic” where they would have rather stagnated.
Order books, for their part, were at a level below normal, particularly in the “agri-food” and “mechanics and metallurgy” sectors.
On the other hand, they would have been at a higher level than normal in “textiles and leather” and normal in “chemistry and parachemistry” and “electrics and electronics”.
For the next three months, manufacturers anticipate an increase in production and sales in all branches of activity except “electrical and electronics” and “textiles and leather” where they expect stagnation.
However, almost one in four companies report uncertainties about the future development of production and sales.
