The American telephone giant, Apple, unveiled on Monday its new technological jewel: the iPhone 16 which adopts almost the same design as its predecessors, but which offers better characteristics for its camera and new artificial intelligence functionalities.

Available in Apple’s usual phone variants, iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, the new baby benefits from major audio improvements, with four studio-quality microphones featuring noise-canceling functionality.

The iPhone 16 also boasts a new audio mixing feature that uses AI to remove background audio, in addition to a new cinematic slow-motion in 4K mode, available on the 16 Pro.

The new cameras feature macro photography and improvements to the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lenses, plus a new spatial capture feature to capture spatial photos and videos for playback on Apple Vision Pro.

The camera control button can integrate with Google and ChatGPT to provide them with images to get more information, the company says. For example, the user can point their iPhone at a restaurant to get reviews and hours.

The 16 Pro also has a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and features the A18 Pro chip, which is even faster and more efficient than the A18, according to Apple.

The new chip is also built on 3nm technology. It has a faster and more efficient Neural Engine than the A17 Pro, the company says, adding that Apple Intelligence, a feature that will be available starting this October, is 15% faster on the A18 Pro than on the A17 Pro.

Introducing the new product, company CEO Tim Cook claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro Max has the best battery life ever, but didn’t give any details on how long or what that means for real-world use.

Priced between $799 and $899, the new iPhone series should contribute to a 4% increase in Apple’s sales in 2025, according to specialists quoted by the American press.

Apple also unveiled its new products: a new, thinner Apple Watch with a brighter display, faster charging, sleep apnea detection, and a premium titanium option; and AirPods 4 and AirPods Max, with significantly improved audio quality.
