Yesterday, the discovery of the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Morocco, more precisely in the city of Marrakech, attracted the attention of Moroccans, particularly on social networks.
The discovery of the first case of monkeypox has brought back memories of the early days of the discovery of Covid in Morocco, as a number of social media activists took the initiative to re-share some of the advice given by experts to avoid infection or transmission in the event of monkeypox infection.
Among the advice provided by health experts is the need to reduce sexual relations as much as possible or to avoid them if in doubt, given that the infection is transmitted largely through physical contact and infection is facilitated during sexual intercourse during which one of the parties may be infected with monkeypox.
In answering citizens’ questions, the advice of experts and specialists indicates that even spouses should reduce their intimate practices during the peak period of the spread of the virus, especially if one of the spouses is in contact with many people in the workplace or on public transport, with the need to shower with soap and water before and after.
