At the 3rd edition of the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI), held in Riyadh, an Islamic Charter for Artificial Intelligence was adopted in order to deal with frauds associated with this technology.
This “Riyadh Charter on Artificial Intelligence for the Islamic World” was jointly launched by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
The summit also saw the signing of several agreements, including a tripartite agreement between the Saudi government, UNESCO and the International Center for AI Ethics Research (ICAIRE), which will be classified as a UNESCO Category 2 center. In parallel, SDAIA published a guidance document on combating AI-generated Deep Fakes, stressing the importance of raising awareness of the risks of fraud and promoting responsible use of these technologies.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between SDAIA and Pearson, a company specializing in education services, to strengthen national AI capabilities and train digital talents in Saudi Arabia.
