Medical and dental students reacted to the dismantling of their sit-in and demonstration yesterday evening, Wednesday, in front of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Rabat.
The National Committee of Medical, Dental and Pharmacy Students recorded the arrest of 15 students and their relatives, with cases of fainting and injuries recorded following the intervention of public forces.
The commission held the government and officials, in the person of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education, responsible for the violence against students and the outcome of the situation, demanding an official apology in the context of this brutal attack.
The commission added that the sad scenes experienced by the future doctors demonstrate the extent of the government’s concern for the human element and its tireless work to create an attraction to solve the immigration problem and encourage it to trust the institutions, as well as its great seriousness in its work to find a solution to the crisis, as we have always known how to do throughout these ten months of open strike.
She stressed that violence is not a means of negotiation, nor a language with which we deal, nor a commitment to peace in all forms of struggle, no matter how great the provocations and no matter how high the level of tension in the ranks of the armed forces and students, because the main reason for protest is love for the homeland, jealousy of it and respect for the quality of public medical education.
The committee confirmed its intention to hold demonstrations in all university hospitals today, Thursday, calling on all medical, pharmacy and dental students, our distinguished professors, all health workers and the general student population of all universities to attend.
