Experts in artificial intelligence (AI) called, Thursday in Rabat, to “Moroccanize AI” and integrate it into the national education system with a view to improving its quality.
Speaker during a round table on “AI, electronic learning, communication networks: how technology has revolutionized the field of education? », organized on the sidelines of the 1st edition of the National Teachers’ Forum, the experts indicated that these technologies are now essential in various fields, thus requiring actors in the educational field to integrate this new mechanism, after its adequacy with the particularity of the Moroccan school. In this sense, the university professor and researcher in AI, Mohssine Dkhissi, affirmed that it is time to integrate this technology, which is increasingly essential in all areas, in the education system, calling in this regard , to submit it to “local values” to preserve Moroccan particularity, in addition to mobilizing the appropriate frameworks to preserve the data and place education frameworks at the center of this integration.
Stressing the need to integrate local languages into AI, Mr. Dkhissi highlighted the importance of contributing to producing this technology and evaluating it before introducing it into the education system, with a view to catching up the delay accumulated in this area.
For his part, the university professor and director of the TICLAB research laboratory at the International University of Rabat (UIR), Mounir Ghogho considered that we should do without fear in the face of the use of this technology, noting that the The integration of AI into the education system should be subject to certain principles and values with a view to establishing a moral framework aimed at protecting data, privacy and local values.
For a smooth integration of AI into the education system, Mr. Ghogho recommended bridging territorial disparities and supporting the current directions of this technology, while preserving the particularity of Moroccan schools. Organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI by the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the promotion of social works in education and training, this forum, which continues until September 27, aims to highlight the central role of teachers in the transformation of public schools, meeting citizens’ expectations.
The scientific program of this event, open to national successes and inspiring international approaches, includes more than 150 interventions and activities around four main axes, namely, “Training for the teaching profession”, “S’ flourish in your work”, “Adopt effective practices in the classroom” and “Understand your students”.
This Forum aspires to become an annual meeting, in order to encourage broad participation from the teaching community with a view to strengthening the dynamic of qualitative transformation of public schools, driven by the women and men of National Education.
