Fraudulent scams affecting Moroccans have recently multiplied, after the broadcast of alerts on social networks concerning suspicious communications targeting policyholders of the National Fund of Social Reserve Organizations and the National Social Security Fund. Fraudsters present themselves as employees of these institutions and encourage citizens to provide their banking information and electronic cards under the pretext of paying health insurance compensation.
These operations include the use of personal information such as full name and national identity card number, making it easier to trap victims. The losses of citizens exposed to the scam varied between 5,800 and 50,000 dirhams, despite repeated warnings issued by the funds during the period 2023-2024.
For their part, social security funds have confirmed that they do not request any personal or banking information over the telephone and have stressed the importance of caution and vigilance in the face of these suspicious communications.
