On the sidelines of the ceremony at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Casablanca, the Minister Delegate in charge of Foreign Trade, Attractiveness, Francophonie and French people abroad Franck Riester declared to the press that the French government actually intends to support the Kingdom’s investment strategy in the Sahara. “France is ready to invest alongside Morocco in the Sahara,” he declared, recalling that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stéphane Séjourné, has already said that France is ready to do so during his last visit to Morocco.

After a series of meetings with members of the Moroccan government, Franck Riester then left for Casablanca to take part in the ceremony for the renewal of the Public Service Concession of Business France and the signing of an agreement between BPIFrance and TAMWILCOM. An opportunity for him to talk about French investments in the Moroccan Sahara to which President Macron has given the green light.

The minister then gave more details on the French strategy by announcing that Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency (AfD) dedicated to the private sector, could contribute to the financing of a high voltage line between Dakhla and Casablanca.

Furthermore, Franck Riester said he wanted to work “on the rebound” of the relationship between Rabat and Paris.
