The reservation of 69 cars and the arrest of 16 people involved in the trafficking of stolen cars

Elements of the judicial police brigade of the city of Nador, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, succeeded this Saturday, April 6, in arresting sixteen people active within a criminal network involved in international trafficking in stolen and counterfeit cars and their use.

This security operation was carried out in several rural areas around the towns of Nador, Driouch and Ibn Tahir, and made it possible to apprehend the suspects, suspected of falsification of legal documents and license plates as well as illegal use of cars on behalf of criminal networks.

Search operations carried out inside the warehouses operated by the suspects allowed the seizure of 69 cars of different types and categories, as well as counterfeit license plates and 220 engines, in addition to spare parts, keys, documents and license plates from vehicle manufacturers.

The searches also led to the seizure of three hunting rifles, 33 rounds of ammunition, as well as a series of computers and mobile phones, in addition to equipment for digital data storage, printing and forging of license plates vehicles, as well as sums of money in national and foreign currency suspected of being the result of this criminal activity.

The identification of the suspects in the national security database revealed that one of them was the subject of several national search warrants issued by the judicial police and the royal gendarmerie. from the cities of Agadir, Laâyoune and Nador, for suspicion of involvement in similar cases linked to the international trafficking of stolen cars.

The suspects were subjected to a judicial investigation supervised by the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine possible other ramifications of this criminal activity, as well as the arrest of other alleged accomplices in the commission of these criminal acts.
