HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
Since the early hours of Wednesday morning, local authorities and relevant services have continued their intensive field efforts to open the road and restore traffic to normal, following the heavy snowfall that hit the Hajiret area of Midelt province.
This snowfall has led to the accumulation of large amounts of snow, causing difficulty in movement and a temporary halt to traffic on a number of road sections, especially in mountainous areas with high altitudes. In this context, snowplows and specialized technical teams have been deployed, in coordination between the regional authorities, the Regional Directorate of Equipment, and elements of civil protection, with the aim of removing snow and ensuring the safety of road users as soon as possible. The authorities have also called on drivers to exercise caution, respect safety instructions, and avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve, stressing that the intervention teams will remain on alert to deal with any potential emergency. These interventions fall within the framework of the proactive strategy adopted to address the effects of the cold wave and snowfall, and to reduce their repercussions on the population and traffic in various areas of Midelt province.
