Construction work on the Kedia El Barna dam, in the province of Sidi Kacem, is nearing completion after the pace of work accelerated during the recent period.
According to available data, the dam works manager revealed that this water facility will start receiving water loads in the next two months, after completing some final works.
The “Alma Dialna” platform also quoted the same director as saying that the progress rate of the work reached 89% until October 7, 2024, thanks to the efforts of young Moroccan talents.
The head of the dam preparation team confirmed that the Ministry of Equipment and Water, in compliance with royal directives, reduced the project completion time to approximately 14 months, while it was expected to be completed in early 2026. The work is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
This project aims to supply drinking water to neighboring areas, including the towns of Sidi Kacem and Sidi Slimane, in addition to irrigating agricultural land in the region, while storing approximately 12 million cubic meters of water per year.
In his speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Throne Day, King Mohammed VI called for the completion of the dam construction program, particularly in areas with high rainfall.
