The 11th Special Olympics Morocco National Games, from April 21 to 26 in Marrakech

The 11th edition of the Special Olympics Morocco (SOM) National Games will be held from April 21 to 26 in Marrakech, under the patronage of King Mohammed VI.
This biennial event will bring together around 1,500 athletes and coaches representing various associations committed to supporting athletes with mental disabilities, coming from all regions of the Kingdom, for competitions in various individual and collective sporting disciplines, indicates a press release from SOM.
In parallel with the competitions, the “Healthy Athletes” event will take place which will be held at the Charifa hospital in Marrakech. It will offer medical screenings in seven different specialties, such as ophthalmology, nutrition, ENT, psychiatry, dentistry, general medicine and physiotherapy. Volunteer doctors will also have the opportunity to participate in “Train the Trainer” (TTT) training, allowing them to join the Clinical Directors family, between April 23 and 26.
A conference for “Health Messengers” will allow the sharing of experiences as leaders and provide learning opportunities on health, nutrition and personal development. In addition, the “Family Health Forum” will bring together family members of athletes to discuss their children’s journeys and the importance of sport in their education and development, continues the same source.
The program for this edition will also include the “Unified Champion Schools” event at the Elaraki International School in Marrakech, aimed at promoting educational inclusion, the press release added.
