The Royal Moroccan Automobile Racing Federation announced on Thursday that Morocco will participate in the FIA sports car race in Valencia until October 27.
The university explained, in a press release, that this event, launched yesterday Wednesday and considered the Olympic Games of motor sports, brings together nearly 100 countries in its third edition, where competitors compete in 26 disciplines such as karting, the rally. , “crosscar”, “drift”, slalom and electronic sports.
The same source adds that Morocco will be represented in sports car racing by three athletes, namely Nahil Gaudi, champion of the Middle East and North Africa region in karting, Ismail Oublal in “F4” e-sport and Hamada Al-Rakizi in the GT e-sport.
He stressed that the Royal Moroccan Automobile Racing Federation places this competition within the framework of the successes achieved by the national karting team, which won the title of the Nations Cup Championship for the Middle East and North Africa region. , which took place in Qatar in December. 2023.
He added that the university also aspires to make car racing a showcase for fans of these sports cars in Morocco in order to expand the base of license holders to practice this sport.
To achieve this objective, particular importance has been given to karting as a breeding ground for motor sports. The Moroccan Championship in the quadruple category, 3 years ago, allowed fans of this sport to learn about sports cars from a very young age.
Electronic sports, which the university highlighted during the Moroccan Electronic Games Industry Fair, allow you to enter the world of this sport. Morocco was able to meet the requirements of the International Automobile Federation by making e-sport an attractive specialty. Reda Hussein, Hamza Manan and Yassine Ounassi excelled in recent competitions in the Middle East and North Africa region.
In recent years, motorsport has spread widely at a global level, and the first edition took place in Rome and saw the participation of 18 countries competing in 6 disciplines, while the Marseille edition in 2022 saw the participation of 72 countries and the International Automobile Federation seeks, during this year’s edition in Valencia, to give this event an Olympic dimension with the participation of 1,000 athletes.
