explained François Letixier, match referee French classic Which brought together Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain, the reasons why the direct red card was given to Marseille midfielder, Moroccan Amine Harit, during the first half of the match which took place took place on Sunday evening at the “Vélodrome” stadium on the ninth day of the French League. The match ended with Paris Saint-Germain winning by three clear goals.
Details of Amin Harith’s expulsion
Letexier showed Harit the red card in the 20th minute of the match, giving Paris Saint-Germain a numerical advantage and control over the flow of the match.
In his statements to the French site Foot Mercato, Letexier confirmed the correctness of the decision, noting that he saw Harit reach for a common ball with one leg extended towards the torso of his opponent, Marquinhos.
The French referee added that the method of intervention posed a clear threat to the player’s safety, especially after he noticed Marquinhos lifting his jersey to inspect the injury site, which reinforced his decision to show the card red.
Letexier emphasized that Hareth’s intention was not necessarily to harm, but that his violent intervention necessitated this decision.
This is the first red card for Amine Harit this season, and the second of his professional career, since the first card dates back to the 2016-2017 season when he received it while playing with Nantes during a match against Nancy in the French League like Bien.
