Today Monday in Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art celebrated the tenth anniversary of its foundation, by organizing an official ceremony, attended by numerous personalities from the world of culture, diplomacy and the economy.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, the president of the National Museum Foundation, Mehdi Qutbi, welcomed the royal desire to make culture a real lever for human, social and economic development, adding that “His Majesty King Mohammed VI gave an invaluable boost to culture and museums. Thanks to this vision, Morocco has today become a model.
Ghotbi stressed that the National Museum Foundation has done “magnificent work”, in particular organizing numerous exhibitions dedicated to great Moroccan artists such as Ahmed Cherkaoui and Djilali Gharbaoui, as well as to international artists such as Picasso, Giacometti , Monet, and Renoir.
In the same context, he continued, “Exhibiting the works of these distinguished artists in Morocco is a dream come true, and we owe it to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.”
For his part, the director of the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Abdelaziz Al-Idrissi, confirmed that this celebration marks “ten years of hard work” since the inauguration of this museum by His Majesty the King in 2014.
He stressed that this eventful journey has allowed Morocco to “establish itself on the artistic scene”, noting that the museum has hosted more than 35 exhibitions by Moroccan and international artists, thus contributing to the “democratization of culture”.
For his part, the general director of the Moroccan Post Group, Amin Ben Jelloun Touimi, expressed his pride in supporting this station by unveiling a special commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the founding of the museum.
The new commemorative postage stamp bears the title “10 years – Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art” and highlights the facade of the museum with the famous work of the artist Arman; It is a bronze statue titled “The Last Air – 1981” and depicts a broken piano.
