The activities of the International Book Fair of the Autonomous University of Juarez of Tabasco State kicked off in the city of Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco State, in southeastern Mexico, on Monday. Morocco is participating as the guest of honor for this edition, in a cultural event that brings together writers, academics, and publishers from Mexico and a number of countries, celebrating books, thought, and dialogue between cultures.

The program for this edition includes the organization of intellectual seminars, academic lectures, and literary meetings, in addition to cultural activities that showcase the richness of the literary and cultural heritage of the participating countries.

In this context, Morocco is participating with a cultural program that includes lectures and intellectual meetings, as well as the presence of the prominent Mexican writer Alberto Roy Sanchez, known for his literary works inspired by the Moroccan city of Essaouira.

This participation also includes the signing of an academic cooperation agreement between the Autonomous University of Juarez in Tabasco and Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tetouan, with the aim of strengthening scientific exchange, encouraging the mobility of students and professors, and developing joint research projects between the two institutions.

In his speech during the opening of the fair, the Kingdom's ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, affirmed that the Moroccan participation in this event represents an opportunity to strengthen cultural and human ties between Morocco and Mexico, highlighting that book fairs constitute a unique space for the meeting of peoples, intercultural dialogue, and consolidating the role of knowledge as a mechanism to promote acquaintance.

The ambassador stressed that Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, attaches great importance to intercultural dialogue and encourages academic exchange and the promotion of knowledge as essential tools for bringing peoples closer and building bridges of understanding between nations.

He also highlighted that the relations between Morocco and Mexico, which date back to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1962, have witnessed remarkable development over more than six decades in various fields, including cultural and academic cooperation, as reflected by Morocco's participation in this major cultural event in Tabasco State.

This is the second participation of Morocco in a cultural event in Tabasco State, following the success of the Moroccan Cultural Week activities hosted by the city of Villahermosa, along with Mexico City and the city of Alamos in Sonora State, at the end of last January, which enabled Mexicans to learn about the richness of the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Kingdom.
