The Moroccan Cultural Club of Sydney is set to commemorate the 49th anniversary of the launch of the Green March, which Morocco considers one of the greatest national epics in its modern history.

In this regard, Hafida Al-Idrissi, president of the Moroccan Cultural Club of Sydney, confirmed that the Green March is a peaceful march launched by the late King of Morocco Hassan II on November 6, 1975, to liberate the Moroccan Sahara from Spanish colonialism. 350,000 Moroccan men and women participated in the march, carrying the Koran and Moroccan national flags.

Al-Idrissi explains that the event, which will begin on the morning of the 17th of this month, is the first of its kind in Australia, as members of the community will participate in a march with cars and Moroccan flags from the Olympic Park.
