There are reports of the existence of secret ports in the Nador region, used for drug trafficking, established inside some villas built on illegally exploited maritime lands.
These villas, which were not included in the recent demolition decisions, have become major centers for launching drug trafficking operations to the Spanish coast.
According to sources, the Beni Sheker region is one of the most important areas in which these operations are active, taking advantage of its privileged geographical location on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.
One of these villas, located in the “Ras Al-Ruk” neighborhood, is used as a small secret port from which boats are loaded onto speedboats to transport drugs across the sea.
The area has recently been the scene of a massive campaign including the demolition of a number of illegal buildings and villas, as part of investigations into the seizure of state land.
However, some properties, linked to influential figures in the region, were not subject to these procedures, raising questions about the comprehensive nature of the demolition decisions.
The region’s complex geography, including its rugged terrain and numerous creeks, is exploited to facilitate smuggling activities.
These networks also rely on advanced equipment, such as speedboats capable of crossing the Mediterranean Sea in a short time, as well as secret warehouses to store contraband materials out of sight.
Although security authorities have managed to control a number of these activities and dismantle some secret ports, smuggling networks continue to develop their methods to circumvent censorship, using advanced means of camouflage, which poses major challenges. efforts to reduce this phenomenon.
