Heba Press – Kenitra
Sailors at the fishing port of Mahdia in Kenitra suffer from difficulties in accessing their boats due to the absence of stairs on the port quays, which help to facilitate embarkation and disembarkation during fishing trips, notably during low tide, when the distance between the boat decks and the quay exceeds four meters.
This problem particularly affects older sailors, who are forced to stay on board longer, thus disrupting their comfort.
In this context, the port union office had already received numerous complaints from sailors regarding this suffering and explained that the union had filed complaints with the National Ports Agency, but according to professionals, their request did not received response so far. .
There is discontent among professionals because seafarers are ignored in agency programs that focus on boat processors and fish merchants, while there is no real support for seafarers. sea in the port. They also highlighted the spread of negative phenomena such as smuggling and attacks by thugs, in addition to other problems related to security and hygiene.
The union highlights the need for cooperation and coordination to address these issues, particularly in light of the decline of artisanal fishing, warning that ignoring these issues puts fisheries wealth at risk.
