Italian border police arrested a 44-year-old Moroccan driver at the port of Genoa, after discovering a 13-year-old minor child hidden in the truck he was driving, while the child was hiding in a narrow space under the front seats. of the vehicle.
Police reported that the driver did not provide a convincing explanation for the child’s presence in the truck, raising suspicions that he was linked to a network smuggling minors across the border.
It is believed the child was on his way to join family members in northern Italy.
The driver was heading to Verona to deliver a cargo including mattresses and other goods.
During the check, the police found cell phones, SIM cards and a sum of money amounting to 2,000 euros inside the truck, which increases the possibility that the driver is linked to illegal activities .
It should be noted that this incident is not the first in Italy, since the country witnessed a similar incident several months ago, where another truck driver was arrested while traveling from Tangier to Verona after another minor was discovered hiding in his vehicle.
