8th edition of the International Para-athletics Meeting Grand Prix Moulay El Hassan: Morocco and the records

The 8th Moulay El Hassan International Para-Athletics Meeting has just ended against the backdrop of two records achieved by Moroccan Athletes.

On the other hand, and according to the opinion of all the delegations, partners and sponsors, this meeting was a great success in terms of competitions and prospects for collaboration at the national and international level, confirming the credibility of the Kingdom for his exceptional support of para-sport, in particular.

In terms of competition, Morocco took first place in the medal table of the 8th edition of this International Para-Athletics Meeting Grand Prix Moulay El Hassan, organized from April 26 to 28 at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Thus, Morocco won first place in the final general ranking during this international sporting event by winning a total of 55 medals and a new world record in the shot put, obtained by the athlete Gani Abdelillah with a performance of 8 .84m (class F53).

This edition was also marked by the achievement of a new African record in the 1,500m by the Moroccan Benadou Hassan, with a time of 4:31.47.

The performance of Moroccan athletes is clear with 22 gold medals, 18 silver and 15 bronze at the end of events which brought together 64 countries and 450 athletes, followed by NPA (Neutral Para Athletic: Russia and Belarus) with 21 medals, including 11 gold, and the Czech Republic, third with 19 medals, including 6 gold. Cuba finished fourth with 16 medals, including 5 gold, while Tunisia occupied fifth place with 10 medals, including 4 gold.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 8th Moulay El Hassan International Para-Athletics Meeting, was organized by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities (FRMSPSH), in partnership with the ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports. Organized under the banner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), this meeting was marked by the participation of Paralympic champions and Moroccan and foreign athletes who have reached world records in their specialties.
