BCIJ dismantles a terrorist cell affiliated with Daesh operating in 5 cities

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, succeeded today, Friday, in dismantling a terrorist cell made up of 5 individuals affiliated with the terrorist organization “Daesh”, aged between 22 and 46 years old, suspected of preparing terrorist plans aimed at seriously disrupting public order.

A BCIJ press release indicated that the suspects were arrested by special forces under the General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance, respectively in Casablanca, Tangier, Tetouan, Martil, and in the rural commune of Onagha, province of Essaouira, after the discovery of details of their terrorist projects following investigations carried out by this directorate.

The first elements of the investigation revealed that the suspects, having pledged allegiance to the so-called caliph of “Daesh”, intended to carry out terrorist actions targeting vital infrastructure and security institutions, while getting involved in campaigns incitement to violence.

Investigations also revealed that a member of this terrorist cell, with knowledge of electronics, had planned the manufacture of improvised explosive devices.

The members of this terrorist cell were placed in police custody under the supervision of the prosecution in charge of terrorism cases, as part of the investigation carried out by the BCIJ in order to reveal the nature of the links of this terrorist cell, as well as all its subversive projects and activities.
