Nasser Bourita meets in Banjul with his counterpart from Niger

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, met on Thursday in Banjul, Gambia, with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Niger, Bakary Yaou Sangare.
The meeting between the two ministers focused on strengthening cooperation relations between Morocco and the Republic of Niger, as well as on subjects of common interest.
At the end of this interview, the head of Nigerien diplomacy indicated that he had examined with his Moroccan counterpart the state of relations between the two countries and current issues within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). and the Atlantic Initiative launched by King Mohammed VI to promote access of the Sahel States to the Atlantic Ocean.
“I was very happy to see that things are progressing” regarding this Royal Initiative, rejoiced the Nigerien minister, noting that things have gone “faster and further” on the Moroccan side in this area.
The Nigerien official affirmed, in this regard, that a meeting on this subject will take place very soon at the level of Niger’s technical experts, which “will define a road map for the implementation of this initiative” which will take place, he assured, in a “very short” time frame.
“Those who are skeptical will understand that this is not a utopia, but real things,” insisted the minister, specifying that King Mohammed VI is “really keen to help the countries of the Sahel” .
The interview took place on the sidelines of the work of the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference, scheduled for May 4 and 5 in Banjul, in the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the OIC, Mustapha Mansouri, and Mr. Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI).
