Heba Press – Muhammad Zariyouh
The city of Nador is seeing a notable increase in the number of irregular migrants, who use it as a crossing point to the occupied city of Melilla or via the city’s port by hiding in trucks.
This reality has made Nador a major focus of the “Haraka” movement, which poses great challenges to local authorities and families.
Families are increasingly unhappy with the deportation of immigrants without conducting social research that takes their situation into account.
Anger increases when the expulsion involves people with psychological or mental health problems, or even people from the region sent to distant cities, leading to additional suffering for families who have difficulty communicating with them or determining where they are found.
Many families have expressed concern to Heba Press after recording cases of arrested youths going missing, prompting them to demand a review of these policies.
Human rights activists call for the need to carry out a comprehensive social assessment of each case before deportation, while ensuring respect for human rights and the humane treatment of detainees.
As the flow of migrants into the city continues, the need for balanced policies that ensure security and stability, while respecting the human dignity of the individuals affected by these measures, increases.
