The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) have signed a partnership agreement which aims to strengthen collaboration between the research and innovation sector and the government in favor of supporting sustainable development and the acceleration of the transition towards a green and inclusive economy in Morocco.

The signing of these agreements also represents a significant step forward towards the realization of the partners’ common commitments in favor of a more sustainable future.

Under this partnership, the two parties agree to pool their efforts and create synergies and convergences with a view to implementing the actions included in the agreement.

The axes of this collaboration include the promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation and applied research to create sustainable solutions adapted to the specific needs of Morocco, in harmony with the national energy transition and sustainable development policy.

They also include strengthening the synergy between higher education, research, green entrepreneurship and public policies through an integrated approach. In addition, this partnership framework also provides support for the deployment of the South-South Cooperation Program, thus strengthening international initiatives in the Ministry’s preferred areas.

It should be noted that this occasion was also marked by the signing of a partnership agreement between UM6P and the Central Purchasing and Development of the Mining Region of Tafilalet and Figuig (CADETAF), to support in particular research and innovation for the downstream development of the region’s mining product value chains, and their valorization in line with Morocco’s industrial policy, and the creation of a national center of excellence for artisanal mining and incubation of mining startups.

It is certain that this collaboration will breathe new life into the promotion of research and development, as well as the development of innovative solutions responding to the multidisciplinary challenges of the environment and sustainable development.
