The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development participated massively in the work of the second session of the International Chemistry Forum on May 16 and 17, 2024, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him , and under the slogan: “Morocco, future world center of chemistry: manufacturing high-performance batteries”.
The first day of the Forum saw the participation of Mrs. Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development in the opening session with a remote speech, in the presence of Mr. Zakaria Hachlaf, Secretary General of the Ministry. The second day of the forum also saw the participation of Mr. Mohamed Ouhmed, Director of Hydrocarbons and Minerals Industries, as well as many important local and international experts.
The forum saw an important debate on Morocco’s competitive potential in the electric car industry as well as in the battery industry. The Ministry’s participation in the panel on resources to supply the value chain of the high-performance battery industry was an opportunity to highlight Morocco’s qualifications in sustainable energy and projects aimed at accelerating the energy transition, as well as the ministry’s programs for the sustainable management of critical minerals, which would pave the way for a new era for the chemical industry and the battery industry, in which the Kingdom is a global destination for investments in this area.
