The 77th World Health Assembly is being held from May 27 to June 1 in Geneva under the theme “A world mobilized for health, health for everyone,” said the World Health Organization (WHO). in a press release.

This assembly provides a vital platform to address existing global health challenges, such as HIV, measles and polio, in the context of the climate emergency and the progression of diseases such as hypertension and obesity.

For WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, this assembly offers Member States major opportunities to promote, ensure and protect the health and well-being of all, notably by adopting the Fourteenth General Program of Work and making the world safer through the Pandemic Agreement and amendments to the International Health Regulations.

Crucial decisions are expected on a series of health priorities such as climate and health, WHO action in health emergencies, access to transformation tools, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases , mental health, women’s health and the reform of the WHO itself.

This assembly will take place with the high-level participation of political leaders and ambassadors, as well as representatives of civil society and non-state actors.
