Nine African teams will qualify for the 2026 World Cup which will take place for the first time with 48 teams. The four best runners-up from the groups will play in a CAF play-off tournament. The winner of this mini-championship will participate in the FIFA play-off tournament.
As a result, Moroccan stadiums will host 9 international football matches, from June 5 to 11, as part of the third and fourth days of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Thus, the Kingdom once again confirms its position as the preferred destination for a number of African football teams to play their qualifying matches, their stadiums being deemed non-compliant according to FIFA and CAF.
In this context, eight African teams decided to organize their home matches in Morocco, given the high quality of sports infrastructure, logistical equipment and hotel facilities meeting international standards available in the Kingdom. These are Sierra Leone, the Central African Republic, Gambia, Sao Tome and Principe, Djibouti, Guinea, Chad and Seychelles.
The Oujda stadium of honor will host the match between the Central African Republic and Chad, on behalf of the 3rd day of Group I, next Wednesday (5:00 p.m.).
The same day, the Sierra Leone national team will face its Djiboutian counterpart, at the El Abdi stadium in El Jadida, during the 3rd day of group A (5:00 p.m.).
The Gambia will cross swords with the Seychelles, Saturday June 8 at the Berkane municipal stadium, for group F (5 p.m.).
For the 4th day of Group H, the Sao Tome and Principe team will host its Liberian counterpart, on the lawn of the Oujda stadium of honor, on Sunday June 9 from 2:00 p.m.
The same day, the El Abdi stadium in El Jadida will, from 5:00 p.m., be the scene of the meeting between Djibouti and Ethiopia (Group A/4th day).
The El Abdi stadium in El Jadida will also host the match between Guinea and Mozambique (Group G), on Monday June 10 (8:00 p.m.).
The international matches played in Moroccan stadiums will continue on Tuesday June 11, with the meeting of the Chadian national team against its counterpart from the Comoros (Group I) at the stadium of honor in Oujda (5:00 p.m.) and the match between the Seychelles and Burundi (Group F) on the lawn of the Berkane municipal stadium (8:00 p.m.).
