CIES/ Social media ranking in the top 100 most followed clubs in the world: Raja greatly outperforms Wydad

The Football Observatory of the International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) has just published its latest weekly letter counting for the 2023-2024 season, dedicated to the study of the most followed clubs in the world and with the greatest number of players. subscribers on four social networks: Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. Morocco is represented by two clubs at the level of the World Top 100, Raja and Wydad.

Raja, which ranks 55th in the world, has a total of 11.1 million subscribers, recording an annual increase of 3.6 million: 6.2 million on Facebook, 3.3 million on Instagram, 1 million on 700,000 subscribers on TikTok. Thanks to these figures, the Eagles are the 3rd most followed African club, behind Al Ahly (18th in the world, 51.1 million subscribers) and Zamalek (42nd in the world, 15.8 million subscribers).

Wydad is in 90th position in the world top 100, with 5.8 million subscribers (+1.3 million over one year): 2.8 million on Facebook, 1.8 million on Instagram, 500,000 on TikTok). WAC is 7th in Africa, behind Al Ahly, Zamalek, RCA, SC Simba, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlondo Pirates.
