World Oceans Day 2024: the start of a major sequence


Celebrated on June 8, World Oceans Day this year marks the start of an important series of events during which the international community will come together in various forums to discuss the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity Marine.

This is an opportunity for the Institute of Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) to present several proposals aimed at making these events significant milestones for the protection of the oceans.

This year, World Oceans Day is celebrated in Costa Rica, where state representatives and stakeholders gather for the “Immersed in Change” conference.

This event begins the countdown to the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which will be held in June 2025 in Nice, France. This conference aims to highlight the main issues related to the governance of the Ocean and to promote concrete measures to address the threats weighing on the marine environment.
