Opening of the High-Level International Conference on Urgent Humanitarian Assistance to Gaza


The work of the high-level international conference on the urgent humanitarian response to Gaza opened Tuesday in the Dead Sea region (40 km south of Amman), with the participation of Morocco.

King Mohammed VI is represented at this Conference, which is being held at the joint initiative of Jordan, Egypt and the United Nations, by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

The conference is marked by the presence of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, heads of state and government representing more than 75 countries, and representatives of humanitarian organizations and international financial institutions, according to the organizers. .

Titled “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Assistance for Gaza,” the Conference aims to identify ways to strengthen the international community’s response to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

Participants will also consider effective mechanisms and measures to achieve a collective and coordinated response to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and consensus on practical measures to address immediate needs on the ground.

It is also about accelerating the process of providing and delivering vital humanitarian aid to Gaza in an immediate, sufficient and sustainable manner, identifying operational and logistical needs for this purpose and creating the right conditions. to the delivery of aid and the protection of civilians in Gaza.

To this end, three sessions of the working groups are on the agenda, focusing on “the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza adapted to needs”, “Overcoming the difficulties linked to the delivery of humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians in Gaza” and “Priorities for early recovery in Gaza”.
